Buenos Aires hiatus leads to SLC book release and art exhibit.
Lyle Carbajal, renowned artist, known for his illustration work with the SLC Tribune, Desert News, SLC Gallivan Center, and the UK Utah Festival, returns from a long sojourn through major US cities and ending with 6 months in Buenos Aires. The trip culminates with Carbajal’s new art exhibit, “Art for my People,” and a book release, based on his work, experiences and perceptions, aptly titled Urba+Primitive, the Art of Lyle Carbajal.
While getting his start here, Lyle Carbajal, who’s exhibited internationally, explores the culture, people and art of the Southern United States, the West Coast, and all the way down to Buenos Aires. Heavily influenced by Outsider, Primitive and Street Art, Carbajal says, “Everywhere I’ve lived, these are all my people.” He has an important exhibition in Nashville in the spring of 2012, and is currently working on his second book.
An Opening Reception: May 7th, 2011, from 6pm – 9pm, at Tanner Frames, 230 S. 500 West #105, Salt Lake City, Utah.
